It was an eventful night for the Bishop State Men’s Basketball team as they entered tonight’s matchup with a lot at stake. One was, defeat Lawson State, and move one game closer to clinching the regular season championship. Another was to eclipse the school record for most regular season wins in men’s basketball history. Finally, it was sophomore night and the Wildcats knew a victory was much needed to send the four sophomores off right.
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Bishop State Wildcats Men’s Basketball team defeated L.B. Wallace 91-57 at the Fredricka G. Evans Cultural Centre. The Wildcats completed the season sweep over the Saints from Andalusia, Alabama.
In front a capacity crowd, and the Vigor High School pep band and cheerleaders in attendance, the Bishop State men’s basketball team took care of business defeating rival Coastal Alabama-South 93-59 in the Battle of the Bay. The highly anticipated matchup is a game that the city has looked forward to each year for decades, was a lopsided one in favor of the Wildcats. It’s a matchup that has usually gone in favor of the Sun Chiefs, but the tides have definitely turned in the biggest margin of victory for the Wildcats in the rivalry as far as we can date.
Nicknamed the “Campground Cats”, the Bishop State men’s basketball team head into the Thanksgiving break with an 83-49 win over Coastal Alabama-North, sporting a 6-0 record.
It looked like the battle of the undefeated would not happen as Pensacola State was having travel issues. The game was slated to start at 7:00 pm central, but was delayed for a 7:45 tip off. Fortunately, the fans did not turn away and stayed to experience one for the books.
As the cool autumn air settles in, there's an electrifying buzz on campus, and it can mean only one thing – a new college basketball season is upon us. Today marks the day of a new season for the Bishop State Men’s Basketball Team. This year’s roster is full of newcomers with only three returning players from last year’s squad. Head Coach Trent Eager enters his third season as the men’s basketball coach and has hopes that this will be his best season even with a young squad.
The Lady Wildcats had a three game stretch in a two-day span while on the road. The first matchup was against nationally ranked Wallace-Hanceville, the second match was with Calhoun, followed by Lawson State to round of the road trip in Northern Alabama.
