Wildcats Victorious Over Pensacola State

It looked like the battle of the undefeated would not happen as Pensacola State was having travel issues. The game was slated to start at 7:00 pm central, but was delayed for a 7:45 tip off. Fortunately, the fans did not turn away and stayed to experience one for the books.

In recent history, the Wildcats haven't been on the favorable side when competing against Panhandle Conference programs, but all of that changed last night as the Bishop State Wildcats defeated Pensacola State 66-48. In the first few minutes, there was some back and forth action as both teams filled each other out. Things took a turn as Colin Howells of Pensacola State got hot on his own, hitting 5 straight threes pointers for Pensacola State forcing the Wildcats to call a timeout. Right out of the timeout, the Pirates pushed their lead to 9 as they were up 24-15 before sophomore Kevin Kogbara drained a three at the top of the key to cut the lead to 6. That started a huge run for the Wildcats as they went on a 20-2 run to go into the half leading 35-26.

The second half was all Bishop State, as the closest the Pirates would get was 8 points. Marvin McGhee IV had a coming out party off the bench for the first time this season. He finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds on four made three point baskets. Joseph Frazier was strong attacking the rim finishing with 12 points. Kevin Kogbara was vital in the win with his versatility as he finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Seth Grandberry and Kaymen Brown have come on strong lately adding more depth to a young squad.

The Wildcats move to 5-0 and will take on Coastal Alabama-North, Monday, November 20th at home at 6:30 pm central.
