Women's Volleyball Had A Historical Inaugural Season
Last year, fall of 2021, was the inaugural season for women's volleyball at Bishop State. Nicole Keshock was named head coach for the Wildcats and it was evident that it was a great hire. The former South Alabama head coach led the Wildcats to a winning record, 16-13, and a birth to the ACCC semifinals. The Wildcats also finished fourth in the regular season standings with a divisional record of 13-9.
In the semifinal matchup between Snead State, the lady Wildcats fell short in a close match. They took the Parsons to 5 sets and lost a close one. Snead State jumped out winning the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-19 before the lady Wildcats tied the match by winning the next two sets 25-22 and 25-21. The last set was a good one but Snead State prevailed in a 15-10 victory. During the regular season, the Lady Wildcats led the series between Snead State 2-1.
After such an amazing inaugural season, the Lady Wildcats managed a few ACCC post season accolades. Jalei Jomalon was named First Team to the 2021 All-ACCC Volleyball Team. Head Coach Nicole Keshock was announced as the ACCC Coach of the Year. Jomalon was top five statistically in the ACCC in service aces per set (0.49) and assists per set (9.54). Molly Kate Atkins was also top five statistically in digs per set with 5.05.
We will announce this year's Bishop State Women's Volleyball team prior to their first game which is set for August 28, 2022, 2:00 pm against Gadsden State here at home in the Fredericka G. Evans Cultural Centre.
