Raiders Climb Back to .500, Defeat Bishop State 14-1

NICEVILLE, Fla. - Northwest Florida dominated Bishop State today 14-1 behind 3-run home runs from Alex Urban and Kendrey Maduro. The Raiders have climbed back to .500 this season and are on a 4-game win streak.

Throughout the 4-game win streak, Northwest Florida has outscored their opponents 49-5, with 2 of the games ending in the 7th inning and another in the 6th. Cayden Gaskin has been stellar out of the 9-hole spot, going 11-18 in the last 5 games with 8 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Scott Mudler and Cade Easterbrook have been on fire as well. Mudler is 6-10 in the last 5 games with 3 doubles and Easterbook is 6-12 with 8 runs scored. Freshman Colby Jones is swinging it well, going 6-11 with a double and 7 RBIs.

On the defensive side, the Raiders have shut down their opponents in 27 innings of work over the last 4 games. The pitching staff has only allowed 14 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 34 batters and only walking 12. Blaise Grove was able to shut down any damage today after allowing 3 walks by giving up 1 hit in 4 innings today. The southpaw collected 4 strikeouts.

Over the weekend, Ramsey David silenced Motlow State after a loss in the first game of the doubleheader. David went the distance vs. the Bucks, going 6 innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 11. His performance was good enough to earn him the Region VIII Pitcher of the Week.

The Raiders (7-7-1) will be back at home on Friday, February 24th at 4:00 PM vs. Gordon State, followed by a doubleheader with the Highlanders on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 and 3:00 PM. Be sure to come out and watch the Raiders!
